NEeds of The centre

The Centre is currently being faced by daunting challenges. Specifically we need the following to be able to run efficiently:

Educational supplies: We urgently need stationery, text books, pencils, pens, chalks, crayons and other educational materials. We are also in need of desks and tables.

Food and clothing: Availability of food is a daily miracle. There is almost always no guarantee that the next meal will be available.

Residential needs: The Centre is currently hosted in a makeshift structure which doubles as classrooms and feeding area. Apart from congestion and poor ventilation, the current premises are inappropriate for the children. Rev. Grace Manjau and the management of Tumaini Children Centre have expressed the need to acquire a more spacious land and construct permanent buildings. We will need to expand our facilities so that the centre can have the growing children proceed to higher education. The centre also plans to establish other vocational training programs, for example, computer courses, tailoring and dressmaking, secretarial skills, business management skills and many other courses, all geared towards making them self-reliant adults after graduation. These ventures will not only benefit the Centre in an immediate sense, but they will also impart lasting technical skills to the children. Estimated costs of the 5 acre land is 5 million Kenya shillings (approximately $76, 923, USD).
